       We have been reading and writing pattern pieces during October. Our work is a literacy response to Lois Ehlert's wonderful autumn story,  Leaf Man.  Students spotted the Leaf Man in many places! They wrote a describing sentence about each place too.  Scroll down to learn about our town.

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  Jack B.'s at the variety store and he's looking for me!


The variety store has toys and games.

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  Jack C.'s downtown and he's looking for me!


You can buy things like toys, clothes, and food downtown.

Maeve's at home and she's looking for me!


It is fun to play outside my house with my friends.

Kevin's at the dump and he's looking for me!

The dump smells bad because it has lots of garbage.

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  Luke's at the Police Station and he's looking for me!

Policemen get robbers.  They put them in jail.  They help people.

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  Alistair's at the Fire Station and he's looking for me!

The Fire Station has fire trucks
 and firemen.

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?
Matthew's at the park and he's looking for me!

I see someone going down the slide at the park.

Lily's at the beach and she's looking for me!

I see some sea animals at the beach.

Fiona's at the beach and she's looking for me!
 

The beach is fun.  You can swim there.
 

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  Isabella's on the boardwalk and she's looking for me!

You can ride your bike and walk on the boardwalk.

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  Chloe's at the Pizza Store and she's looking for me!

They have pizza with pepperoni and cheese and sauce.

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  Catherine's at school and she's looking for me!

My school has friends and books too.

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  Patrick's at the playground and he's looking for me!

There are slides at the playground.

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  Holly's at the Dance Store and she's looking for me!
 

I went to the Dance Store to buy some clothes for my dance today.

Joseph's at the lake and he's looking for me!


You will like to go sledding by the lake.  I go with my friends.

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  Nicholas is at the drycleaners and he's looking for me!

The drycleaners is where you get clothes cleaned.
It has bubblegum too.

Hanna's at Splash and she's looking for me!
 

Splash is where you can buy Webkinz.

Brandon's at the beach and he's looking for me!

I see seashells and hermit crabs at the beach.
 

Leaf Man, Leaf Man who do you see?  James is at the Train Station and he's looking for me!

 

The Train Station has many trains.  The trains are so big.

Finn's at his street and he's looking for me!
 

I have good neighbors on my street.
