Writing Similes in First Grade

A simile is an example of a writers' craft that shows a comparison between two things.  It usually includes the words like or as.

Ex. The cat was as quiet as a mouse.

Our practice similes all have as in the sentence.  We are going to be on the lookout for more similes in our reading and try to include this form of word choice in our own writing pieces.
